Moving out of city center and will live in a suburb for a week which is 10 minutes taxi drive away. Great excitement everyday visiting here and there, nature, sport event, bars and good restaurants, commedy, so much variety, similar like Guangzhou. It is just 3 times plus more expensive here, and have better air.
Love life and live it to the best. Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Comment by Peter on September 3, 2012 at 9:33pm Great to hear of your great adventure and holiday there in Melbourne @Nance. Actually lived in Melbourne for about a year and must say its a chilled and really relaxed place. I remember some wonderful late nights and some wonderful small and tucked away bars in the CBD near Park Street ....... many of the clubs are below street level so just stumble along and I am sure you will have fun. One I remember in particular was the Cigar Club ..maybe no longer there ...but lots of fun for sure to be had :) As for other quarters lots and lots to do in the Greek and other quarters and of course there is the Casino or to go and see the footie during the week ..with you pitcher of beers .. Nothing like seeing real hard men play Ozzie footie :)
Apart from Melbourne itself , recommend a more relaxed time in St Kilda and best of all Elwood where I lived in a house near the ocean :) Really relaxed and enjoyable and nice for running early in the morning of surf and kite boarding if you are into that too :) You should forget about taxis there and just hop on the tram which brings you everywhere :)
If you are feeling more adventurous, why not rent a car. Take a weeekend off and explore the Great Ocean road. Its so beautiful there ..... Also outside of Melbourne are some wineries for great white wines .....and of course some mountains for skiing in the Winter ... Not sure if snow still there ....but when I was there my brothers visited and we had a rare old time on the slopes Northward :) Really lots and lots to do if you like outdoor life and indeed the people so friendly ....
Not sure if you take time to head for Sydney ? Got some recommendations around Darling harbour, Blue mountains and lovely beaches like Bondi ... Haha ... Melbourne for the culture and cold (Winter) and for the surf and waves then Sydney is the place to head for.
Wishing you a wonderful trip out there and enjoy :) P
