News: fast cars for Chinese women, and face creams and designer bags for Chinese men

Chinese women buy more fast cars than their counterparts from other countries, while men purchase more face creams and designer bags, the Canada-based Globe and Mail reported. Coach says men represent 45% of the $1.7b Chinese market for luxury bags and accessories, compared with 15% globally. L'Oréal sees a similar trend. News: artificial blood 10 years away in the market

Researchers from Edinburgh University and Bristol University have, for the first time, made thousands of millions of red blood cells from stem cells taken from bone marrow, the Daily Mail of London reported. Artificial blood produced from stem cells could get to clinical trials in 2-3 years and be in routine general practice within the next decade, the researchers claim. The man-made blood would be free of infections and could be given to almost everyone regardless of blood group.

News: Manchester United are top of the league as Britain's most hated club,

Manchester United are top of the league again - as Britain's most hated club, pulling in almost a third of the total vote in a survey of fans, the Daily Star of London reported. Chelsea got 10% of the hate vote, with Arsenal just behind them with 9.3%. Liverpool came 4th while Manchester City were 5th. News: China Ranked No 8 Happiest Country

China has been ranked 8th in overall "well-being" by the Organization for Economic Cooperation And Development's new "How's Life?" study, the Huffington Post reported. The study surveyed 11 specific aspects of life, including income, jobs, housing, health, education, environment, personal security and subjective well-being across 40 countries. Denmark was ranked 1st for "well-being", followed by Iceland and Japan. The UK ranked 9th, while the US came in at No 19.
