"I have dj'd with him for many years, mostly in Chicago. That flyer was here in Portland....It was my birthday and wanted to bring him out. I'd like to bring him to Guangzhou when I plan to visit in late fall."

Chameleon James Anthony is the base of Urban Camouflage, a network of
atmospheric architecture, (creative audio experiments and underground projects).
As a veteran dj from 1992 begining in upstate N.Y., James spent much of his time in
Toronto and New York City before moving to Chicago in 1994 focusing mostly on House music.
Most of the early Chi-town events where he dj'd at were loft parties and night clubs like
Shelter, Vinyl, Smart Bar, etc...with local favorites such as Derrick Carter, Diz, Mark Grant,
Heather and such. He now resides in Portland, Oregon that houses :urban camouflage:.
During the years in Chicago, James played at fashion shows for designers including
the esteemed Yohji Yamamoto and Betsey Johnson. He also provided soundscapes
for multimedia installations in loft galleries, The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art,
remixed audio to projected films with Lazy Fm and dj Josh Werner at Rodan.
James was selected to represent Chicago in 2006 as one of the most influential house dj’s
since 1996 for UMC,(Underground Music Conservation), and "411", a documentary of 411 weeks 1996-2006 of Chicago underground house music compiled from photos, audio, and video.
James is most at home when playing deep/acid house in an old loft in front of 400 people
right before the sun rises and events that include a multi-sensory environment.Outside of that,
you might hear a rare performance of him on WNUR.FM in Chicago, or turning into William S.
Burroughs working with jazz/electronica as a "cut up method" with two turntables instead
of typewriters.
