Who We Are...
In the summer of 2001, the International Percussive Arts Center (IPAC) opened its doors when Anthony Gonzalez, M.A. Graduate of Julliard School of Music, then the principal timpani and percussion player of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, took in his very first group of dedicated students on drumming. Since then, 10 years has gone by. Anthony has since become Director of Percussion at Xinghai Conservatory of Music, and this little weekend percussion workshop has grown into a full blown boutique music training center. IPAC now offer classes in modern Drumming, Percussion, Piano, Voice and Music Theory, all in a very easy and fun way to learn!
What We Do...
IPAC offers comprehensive training programs on many musical instruments such as Piano, Drums, and voice, in the context of modern music genres such as Rock, Blues, Jazz, R&B and Pop. We also offers classes in music theory, music genre introduction and music appreciation. Lastly, We have an extensive selection of programs to prepare students for the various tests issued by the Associate Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM).
Why Choose Us?
Here at IPAC, our approach to music tends to be quite different from other music education systems. We believe in offering a complete musical education to our students instead of just basic ability to command an instrument. Take percussion for example, instead of only teaching drumming like many other schools do, we also offer all of our percussion students a complimentary music theory class that includes voice and piano training to help them understand music better. On the other hand, for students studying Voice or Piano we offer a complimentary rhythm training prior to every class.
…is that it?
Lets talk about class size. Here at IPAC, we keep the capacity of 7-8 students per class. In music education, this is a very good thing that we are proud to offer. It’s big enough for peer support and camaraderie, yet small enough for students to have the attention of the instructors they deserve. If you or your children would like to have the undivided attention from out instructors, private classes can be set up with ease.
Lastly, IPAC is staffed and operated by a group of passionate men and women with extensive training in their craft, most with advanced degree, and would be more than eager to pass on to our students everything they know. We believe in the joy and achievement one can have through studying music, and we are willing to go great distance to share these wonderful feeling with you. You will never see a burned out teacher here trying to pass the day to make a buck. We are thrilled to be able to teach you or your children and we would like you to know it.
Please feel free to talk to any of our staff about our programs, they will be more than happy to answer questions you may have.
