13 Factories that Collin mentioned is good quality and very heavy, like most American food. I've had a Mexican style appetizer there, which was very good.

thanks collin for the info. i've been in Tekila too i think it is just ok but the pricesare not so good.Long time ago there was a mexican restaurant too near the garden hotel and the food taste better prices were ok but i couldnt find it anymore..

Tekila (yeah they spell it with a "k"...) Is the only Mexican restaurant I know and is actually owned and operated by a mexican guy. It's food is ok but not nearly as good as the Mexican restaurants in the U.S. The prices are not that great. Most main dishes are like 60 RMB. However they have specials for most weekdays. Wednesday their fajitas are very cheap and Thursday their tacos are only 26 rmb for four of them (I recommend chicken and I dislike the beef and pork ones there). They also have a set lunch menu but that seems more like a larger portion for the same price as a main dish...
It is located at Jian she lu malu. (taojin metro station then walk south about 5-7 minutes.)

otherwise you can get mexican food at most western pubs like the brew or the Irish bars like paddy field's, and McCowley's, but I don't recomend it.

Lastly there is a special promotion for the american restaurant 13 factories is having this month for mexican food in celebration of cinco de mayo. I have yet to go check it out but I have been there before. It is slightly upper scale. Not fantastic (because what they cooked me was not country fried steak because it was spicy and came in strips) but pretty good. I will go there again.

I'll have dinner with you, echodreame. However I don't think I like any of the Italian restaurants around here except for Tomatoes which recently decided to raise their prices while lowering the quality of their food. If you want to go to FG, I'd be willing to go there. It's not Italian but you can still get pasta and pizza.

I miss Nero Vivo on Jian Shi Liu Ma Lu No1 - think their food was best Italian in Guangzhou. I wonder why they had to close or if the cook is still in Guangzhou?

Cool, Shivi, I have never been to some of those restaurants. Didn't know there was a Nepali restaurant in that area.

Surprised so many think OGGI is the best Italian, and it's a good restaurant, but my taste is more for Buongiorno and also a place on one of the lower numbered Liu Ma Lu's that closed last year, La Dolce Vita. Miss it.

For Indian Restaurant; I'll choose Tandoor (For Great Taste) or Shanghai Punjabi (Value for money; especially their weekend buffet dinners)over Vaastu.

For Turkish; Bosphorous is OK..But..., I love Sultan. (For their great Menu selection )

For Thai; I think Banana Leaf Curry is The Best.

For Nepali; Kohinoor in Lujing Lu is number 1

For Tibetan Food; Shambala in Zhujian New Town is good

For Italian; OGGI is the one

Indonesian; Pendan

French...La Seine on Ersha....Great One

Liz, any picture of that TASTES place.. I need some good greek grub. Where exactly? and whats it called? prices good?

It's a very large supermarket inside China Plaza (Zhong Guo Hua Chang?) on the south side of Zhong Shan San Lu (maybe 4 Lu) next to the Line1 Martyr's Park metro station (Li She Ling Yuan sp?). Definitely a big selection of foreign type food as well as local stuffs. I remember they had Greek feta cheese, never bought it so don't know how good it was.
