Gael, I was wrong. Or rather Apple have fixed that problem.
With the new iTunes, when u right-click your device and do a "back-up", it saves everything on your phone including SMS, Notes, Calendars, Bookmarks, Photos, Music etc.

Took the plunge last night and it's sweet as.
Only upgraded cos I found a free VPN for Facebook for the iPhone, but it needed iOS 5+

Hey, I have an iPhone 4 for sale.  Anyone interested?  It's from HK so no silly carrier lock, restored to iOS5.0.1 and jailbroken.  It's 32GB and only used for 4 months.  3600yuan buys it.  Again, it's 32GB, black and in god condition.

@Seàn

Don't you miss the times when blokes only cry into their pints because some woman? Now they cry over gadgets...where is this world going.

Yep, as far as I'm aware, you'll lose everything, contacts, messages, apps, notes, everything. I think Apple does a Factory Restore on it to punish you for Jailbreaking it in the first place. Maybe google it to see if the situation has changed, but it used to be that way, and I'm not willing to risk it. I've seen too many friends cry into their pints at their misfortune.

Even if you sync your contacts with iTunes?

Gael, my iPhone is JAILBROKEN, so I'm pretty positive any upgrade of the iOS software will knacker the phucker. I've encountered many a mate who have experienced the loss.

@Sean : where did you see that you'll lose your contacts when you upgrade to iOS 5? If you're scared, just activate the sync in iTunes... But even without sync, I don't think upgrading to iOS5 resets your contacts...

A friend introduced me to this Jail-broken App recently and I thought I'd share - BiteSMS ( http://bitesms.com )

If you've got a jailbroken phone and don't wanna upgrade to iOS5 cos you'll possibly lose all ur contacts and stuff if you do, but want the new Text Features, just search for BiteSMS in Cydia and install it.

It basically allows you to reply to messages in Phone Lock mode without having to type in your PIN number every time you get a new message, and then goes straight back into Lock Mode immediately.

Anyone know any other handy Apps of recent times?
