I have read many discussions about FOREIGNERS Or has the word foreigners as well as comments.

Do you people realize that this word in China means the rest of the word?

How can you judge the rest of the word if you have met someone from states or France or feasibly India perhaps Japan.

Do you realize how the different is too enormous between all people from the rest of the world? and BOOM too easily you say foreigners are this or foreigners are that?

At least say some foreigners
Don't you, guys think so?

It is a bit odd to me as well. It almost seems as though most Asian countries mean "white people" when they say "foreigners," no matter where the person is from.

White people (in American English also Caucasian) is a term which usually refers to human beings characterized, at least in part, by the light pigmentation of their skin. Rather than a straightforward description of skin color, the term white also functions as a color terminology for race, often referring narrowly to people claiming ancestry exclusively from Europe.

which includes people with ancestry from the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Central, and South Asia,

Also the term "white people" has different definitions in different regions.

When I went to Nigeria, Africa, although I am Chinese by descent, not China Chinese, I am considered to be a "white" guy there. I would think of myself as being a "yellow" instead. Anyway, it was an interesting perception by different people.

That's about the skin color so in Africa there is just white and black.

I agree NoWay. The term is misleading. I found it curious how easily discussions in China can be about people from other regions and be very specific. Yet, when my students talk about anyone outside of China we are all foreigners, even if they only mean one specific region. What is more amazing is when I try to show the difference, and think they understand, they go right back to the same usage of the word. I have even seen it here in GZStuff quite often..... One girl I spoke with told me she hated foreign men. I asked why, she said she had a foreign bf b4 and now she hates foreign men. When I continued the conversation, I found she only knew about men from one country because that is who she worked with and she was here trying find a foreign bf... Imagine my confusion trying to understand how someone who hates foreigners could be here looking for a foreigner, as long as he is not from one specific location. I still could not get her to understand the difference either.
