Guangzhou Stuff

hello GZstuff comrades,

I have my parents coming to gz for 3weeks just after the mid-autumn festival, and basically i'm after some good suggestions for places to take them. now, i have done all the usual places myself (been here 18months or so), but don't be affraid to suggest the 'obvious to you' as i may overlook somewhere. but the key reason for my post concerns toilets! my folks are 'of age' and the local loo's certainly won't suit my mum. so even if you can suggest somewhere with a 'western' loo thats round the corner from your usual sight seeing spots, that would be a great help.

thanks in advence GZstuff-ers

wow most sightseeing places they don't usually have western loos dude well not that i know of. You gonna have a hard time mate and pity your mum.

If I were you I would find places around China you want to see if you have the money. My parents visited China some years back and I showed them nothing of GZ, as there is little to see in terms of scenic spots that would last long in the memory, in my opinion...

Shamian, light-boat-tour-thingy in the evening, bird/animal/antique/plant market.

ifc tower, four seasons.  italian restaurant on 72 or bar on 99. go during a clear day.  same view, more or less, as guangzhou tower, without the admission fee.

as for the toilet situation... don't take them to any shitholes? (no pun intended)

Then take them to Beijing Lu and Shangxiajiu for some dim sum and/or morning tea. For a church go to the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Shopping go Guangbai - Tianhecheng - Zhengjia - New underground shopping mall underneath crossroads in front of Zhengjia - Wanling/Onelink Plaza - Taiguhui - Shipaiqiao - Gangding

If they want to get out of the city take them to Kaiping or Qingyuan. If they want a beach go to the beaches to the east of Shenzhen. For some extra dare, take them to the abandoned pagoda near the zoo in Panyu.

Take them to the zoo, i.e Cave Bar

Lotus Mountain a little hard to get to without a car but you can get bus to there

9999 steps Waterfall you can get a bus day trip to this one includes lunch
